– A photo exhibitionfeaturing the traditional friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam andLaos opened in Hanoi on July 18.
The event is part of the activities to mark the55th founding anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties (September 5, 1962)and 40 years of signing the bilateral Treaty on Amity and Cooperation (July 18,1977).

Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister and ForeignMinister Pham Binh Minh and Lao Vice President Phankham Viphavanh cut theribbon to kick off the event.
 
On display are nearly 40 photos, documents,books and objects reflecting the building and development of the specialrelations between Vietnam and Laos through historical periods, especially from1962 to 2017.

The exhibition is divided into three parts withthe first one highlighting the history of Vietnam-Laos relationship and theestablishment of the diplomatic ties.

The second part focuses on Vietnam-Laos specialsolidarity in the cause of national building and development (1977-1986),especially the bilateral Treaty on Amity and Cooperation, and bilateral cooperationin the first years of addressing war consequences.

The third part captures visits by leaders of thetwo countries’ Parties and States to elevate the bilateral cooperation to a newheight across politics, external affairs, security, defense, economics,culture, society, education and training.

The exhibition will run until September 15,2017.-VNA

ꩵ Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. The outcome shows the trust and recognition that member states have given Vietnam for its efforts and achievements in carrying out and promoting the Convention, as well as for its active role, strong standing, and growing credibility at UNESCO.

The exhibition showcases more than 100 valuable documents and artifacts, divided into two main parts: “Journalist Nguyen Ai Quoc – Ho Chi Minh” and “President Ho Chi Minh – Founder and Mentor of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press.” This is an opportunity to recall the late leader’s journalism journey and affirm his exceptional role in founding and guiding the revolutionary press in Vietnam.
