HCM City (VNA) – A photo exhibition themed “Vi Viet Nam – Por Vietnam” opened at the Institute of Cultural Exchange with France (IDECAF) in Ho Chi Minh City on April 29.

The event, jointly organised by the editorial board of Communist Review, the magazine of the Communist Party of Vietnam, in collaboration with the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam, commemorates the 65th anniversary of Vietnam–Cuba diplomatic relations and the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.

Among those attending the exhibition were Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Salvador Valdés Mesa, Politburo member and Vice President of Cuba, and numerous delegates from both countries.

In his remarks, Hoang Trung Dung, Editor-in-Chief of Communist Review, emphasised that despite the geographical distance, Vietnam and Cuba have long shared a profound bond rooted in their common struggle for independence, freedom, and socialism. He described the relationship as an exemplary symbol of pure and loyal international solidarity, transcending conventional diplomatic norms.

During the difficult years of Vietnam’s resistance against US imperialism, under the leadership of Commander Fidel Castro, Cuba extended wholehearted and practical support to Vietnam. President Castro’s immortal statement — “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to shed its own blood” — remains deeply etched in the hearts of generations of Vietnamese people as a solemn pledge of fraternity and solidarity.

Dung stressed that the Vietnam–Cuba relationship has been nurtured not only by the leaders of both countries but also by the deep affection shared between their peoples.
