Photographer wins two silvers at New York Photography Awards
Tran Viet Van, a journalist for Lao Dong (Labour) Newspaper, won two silver awards at the recent international New York Photography Awards 2022 that attracted over 3,500 entries by photographers from 50 countries across the world.

Hanoi (VNA)ཧ – Tran Viet Van, a journalistfor Lao Dong (Labour) Newspaper, won two silver awards at the recent international NewYork Photography Awards 2022 that attracted over 3,500 entries by photographersfrom 50 countries across the world.
According to the newspaper, the photo contestorganiser on December 16 announced two silver awards for the Vietnamesephotographer, namely the “Connection” taken in Vietnam’s Central Highlandprovince of Dak Lak in the category of Black and White, Travel and “The tattooed woman" taken in Myanmar for the category of Fine Art, Open Theme forprofessional photographers.

Previously, “Connection” won the thirdposition at Spain’s EPEX Photography Trophy 2022 in Malaga and went to thefinal round of Switzerland’s Lugano Award and the US’s Nature Conservancy. Meanwhile, “The tattooed woman” won a bronze medal at India’sOne Eyeland and went to the final round of Austria’s World Master. The New York Photography Awards honor the world'soutstanding photographers who share their vision with the world, redefining andexpanding the boundaries of photography, where every aspect of a photograph isfocused to meet international standards. This year, its Grand Prize for Photographer of theYear went to British photographer Pete Muller for "Save" [that seizesthe moment a goalkeeper made a great save] and Germany’s Peter Voss for"Young Eagle Champion"./.
Winners of the photo contest "Khoanh khac SEA Games 31" (Moments of the SEA Games 31) were honoured at a ceremony organised by the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artist (VNAP) on August 29.
Tran Viet Van, a journalist of Lao Dong (Labour) Newspaper, claimed three silver and two bronze medals in the annual photo contest run by Australia’s Better Photography Magazine.
The Vietnam Art Photo Contest and Exhibition 2022, highlighting the best art photography from around the country, has been opened at the HCM Fine Art Museum by the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition, under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The ambassador noted that among the 300,000 Vietnamese residing in the RoK, around 3,000 are living in Pyeongtaek and contributing actively to the local economy. Ho expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue support the overseas Vietnamese community in the city.
This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. For the first time, Vietnamese audiences will have the opportunity to experience the ballet masterpiece "Don Quixote" in its original version by renowned choreographer Marius Petipa.
The contest carried deep meaning as it was the first time the life of Vietnamese women abroad had been highlighted as the central theme, said poet and writer Nguyen Quang Thieu, Chairman of the Vietnam Writers’ Association.
The event formed part of Vietnam’s ongoing campaign to seek UNESCO World Heritage status for the complex at the 47th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, scheduled to take place in Paris in July.
Creative cultural festivals are fast emerging as a new catalyst for tourism development in Vietnam, as localities increasingly invest in these vibrant events on a more systematic and larger scale.
This marks the first time Vietnam has hosted a continental-level Muay event which will feature competitions across 28 weight categories in combat and eight performance categories.
Coming to the Vietnamese booth, visitors had the chance to take part in a bamboo dance, a workshop on painting woven bamboo or rattan, or quizzes about Vietnam.
These are impressive achievements, not only showing the efforts and prowess of Vietnamese paddlers but also serving as proof of the sports sector’s strategic and systematic investment.
