Phuc Son Group case: Five more ex-leaders of Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho indicted

Police have officially launched probe into five more former leaders of the northern provinces of Phu Tho and Vinh Phuc for alleged involvement in the Phuc Son Group JSC case, authorities said at the Ministry of Public Security (MPS)’s press conference in Hanoi on December 26.

Hanoi (VNA) – Police have officially launched probe into five more former leaders of the northern provinces of Phu Tho and Vinh Phuc foꦉr alleged involvement in the Phuc Son Group JSC case, authorities said at the Ministry of Public Security (MPS)’s press conference in Hanoi on𓂃 December 26.

Lieut. Col. Vu Thanh Tung, Deputy Director of the MPS's Police Department for Investigation of Corruption, Smuggling and Economic Crimes (C03), said that Pham Van Vong, former Secretary of the Vinh Phuc Party Committee; Phung Quang Hung, former Chairman of the Vinh Phuc People's Committee; Ha Hoa Binh, former Vice Chairman of the Vinh Phuc People's Committee; Ngo Duc Vuong, former Secretary of the Phu Tho Party Committee; and Nguyen Doan Khanh, former Secretary of the Phu Tho Party Committee and former Chairman of the provincial People's Committee are accused of “abusing position and power while performing duties”. Tung said that so far, legal proceedings have been launched against 38 individuals for the charges of “violating the regulations on accounting that causes serious consequences”, “violating the regulations on bidding that causes serious consequences”, “taking bribes”, “abusing position and power while performing duties”, and “abusing influence on persons holding positions and power to seek illegal profit”.
The C03 representative stated that the investigation’s final results are set to be released in early the first quarter of 2025. At the press conference, the C03 also provided information about a number of wastefulness cases involving some enterprises and projects.
Meanwhile, police have expanded investigation into the extortion case at the Moi truong va Do thi (Environment and Urban Areas) Magazine. Colonel Tran Xuan Anh, Director of the Public Security Department of Thai Binh province, said that on December 25, nine additional suspects were indicted while 20 individuals summoned for expanded investigation into this case./.
