PM holds bilateral meetings on ASEAN-India summit sidelines

New Delhi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc had bilateralmeetings with leaders of Singapore, Thailand and Myanmar on the sidelines ofthe ASEAN – India Commemorative Summit in New Delhi, India, on January 25.

At Prime Minister Phuc’s meeting with his Singaporeancounterpart Lee Hsien Loong, the two agreed to implement a string of activitiesto celebrate the 45th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties in 2018.

They reached a consensus on considering the opening of airroutes linking Singapore with Vietnam’s Da Lat and Nha Trang resort cities aswell as the increase of frequency of existing flights, and pushing upnegotiations on a labour agreement.

PM Phuc told his counterpart that he will attend the 32nd ASEANSummit to be held in Singapore.

While meeting Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha, theVietnamese leader suggested the two sides step up the organisation of theirjoint committee on bilateral cooperation’s third meeting and the joint Cabinetretreat this year.

He repeated the invitation to Prayut Chan-ocha to attend thesixth Summit of the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) and the GMS Business Forumslated for March in Hanoi in order to share views on the region’s development.

Meeting Myanmar’s State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, PM Phucexpressed his hope to soon welcome her in Vietnam and co-chair the ninthmeeting of the joint committee on bilateral cooperation.

Aung San Suu Kyi stated that she will conveyed Phuc’sinvitation to the sixth Summit of the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) and theGMS Business Forum to Myanmar leaders.-VNA
