Hanoi (VNA) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh,his spouse, and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam left Hanoi on November 28 afternoonto attend the 28th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP28) and haveseveral bilateral activities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and pay anofficial visit to Turkey from November 29 to December 3.
The PM is accompanied by Minister and Chairman of theGovernment Office Tran Van Son, Minister of Natural Resources and EnvironmentDang Quoc Khanh, Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung,Deputy Minister of Defence Pham Hoai Nam, Deputy Minister of Public Security LeVan Tuyen, Deputy Chief of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central CommitteeOffice Bui Van Thach, and Deputy Foreign Minister Do Hung Viet, among otherofficials.
The trip reaffirms Vietnam's consistent policy on green growth and climatechange response as well as its role and position in regional and internationalcooperation frameworks.
Furthermore, it contributes to consolidating political trustand enhancing the effectiveness of cooperation between Vietnam and the UAE, aswell as Turkey. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will announce Vietnam’s new initiatives and commitments at the 28th UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) in joint efforts against climate change, said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet.
The commitment to net-zero emissions by 2050 Vietnam announced at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) is a premise for the country to affirm the determination and efforts to join hands with the world in responding to climate change at the COP28 that will take place in the UAE from November 30 to December 12.
