Da Nang (VNA) – PrimeMinister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has described the Hong Kong Special AdministrativeRegion as one of the top important economic-trade, investment and tourismpartners of Vietnam.
During a reception in Da Nang onNovember 10 for Hong Kong’s Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-Ngor, PM Phuclauded the Hong Kong economy’s active contributions to the success of the APECYear 2017 in Vietnam and wished that during her tenure, Hong Kong’s position asthe ninth largest trade partner and the sixth largest foreign direct investmentpartner of Vietnam will be lifted.
In order to boostmutually-beneficial ties, the PM suggested the administration of the Hong KongSpecial Administrative Region encourage capable firms to expand operations inVietnam, especially in transport, infrastructure, electronic components, andsupporting and processing industries on the basis of ensuring environmentalprotection, sustainable development as well as further step up collaboration inthe fields of finance-banking, securities.
He hoped that Hong Kong willcreate more favourable conditions for Vietnamese guest workers and increase theimport of goods from Vietnam, such as agro-forestry-aquatic products, appareland footwear.
PM Phuc also urged Hong Kong tosupport Vietnamese firms to partake in trade, investment and tourism promotion activitiesin Hong Kong and expanding cooperation in culture, education, labour andtourism.
Carrie Lam spoke highly of Vietnam’s preparations forthe APEC Year 2017, affirming that authorities of the Hong Kong Special AdministrativeRegion appreciates mutually-beneficial ties with Vietnam, particularly ineconomy, trade, investment, culture, education and tourism.-VNA
