Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh 🍎Chinh on March 15 cabled a letter of congratulations to Mark Carney, who was sworn in as the 24th Prime Minister of Canada on March 14.
On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son also sent congratulations to Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mélanie Joly on her reappointment./.
Regarding the East Sea issue, Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien emphasised the need to respect international law, particularly the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), and accelerate negotiations to finalise an effective and practical Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).
