PM works with eight southern localities on pandemic control measures

Hanoi (VNA)– Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on July 4 chaired an online meeting with leaders of eightsouthern localities on measures to stamp out the COVID-19 pandemic.

The eightlocalities, namely Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Long An, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh, BaRia-Vung Tau and Tien Giang provinces – have been experiencing complicated pandemic developments.

According tothe Ministry of Health, Vietnam has so far recorded 19,570infections, including over 16,000 found in the current fourth outbreak. Particularly,the pandemic is spreading rapidly in HCM City with large number of cases and hotspots, many have yet to defince infection sources.
In the meeting,PM Chinh asked leaders of ministries, sectors and localities to give proposalson mechanisms, personnel and equipment to control the pandemic and prevent itfrom spreading widely and affecting people’s health and the country’ssocio-economic development.

Leaders oflocalities spoke highly of the solutions and guidance given recently by the Government,ministries and sectors in COVID-19 prevention and control,especially in the flexible arrangement of priorities in the pandemic fight andsocio-economic development as well as the implementation of “three-on-spotsolution” (having meals, resting and working on the spot) in businesses andindustrial parks.

Concluding the session, PM Chinh stated that the Government hasdirected ministries and sectors to send more forces to HCM City and somesouthern localities, while requesting the health sector, military, publicsecurity forces and COVID-19-free localities to give a helping hand tolocalities if necessary.

The government leader affirmed that the orientations, measures and methods being applied in COVID-19prevention and control are on the right track.

He underlinedthe need for all people to continue to implement the “5K message,” along withvaccination and application of technology to control the pandemic.

Self-testingand home quarantine will be piloted, he said, adding that mechanisms andpolicies will be completed to create a smooth legal corridor in pandemicprevention and control, while disciplines, supervision and inspection will alsobe strengthened.

PM Chinh askedHCM City and neighbouring localities to coordinate closely together to ensurethe smooth flow of goods and production activities with strict implementation ofsafe transportation and travelling.

Responding tolocalities’ opinions on difficulties and obstacles facing them, he askedrelevant agencies to summarise them and settling the issues in accordance withtheir authority, and submit proposals to the Government on issues beyond theirpower./.

꧟ Vietnam, France collaborate in vaccine production technology transfer

Under the agreement, VNVC and Sanofi will gradually implement technology transfers to enable domestic production of several key Sanofi vaccines that are widely used in Vietnam. In addition, Sanofi will support VNVC in training human resources and quality management in vaccine research and manufacturing.
