Hanoi (VNA) – Politburo member and Secretary ofthe 16th-tenure Hanoi Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue was elected Secretary ofthis committee for the 17th tenure with 100 percent of the vote on October 13morning.
Announcing election results at the 17th HanoiParty Congress, Chu Ngoc Anh, Vice Secretary of the 16th municipal PartyCommittee and Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, said the eventelected 71 people to the 17th-tenure municipal Party Committee for 2020-2025.
In its first meeting, the 17th-tenure PartyCommittee of Hanoi elected 16 to its Standing Board and Vuong Dinh Hue as itsSecretary for the 17th tenure with all the Party Committee’s 71 members votingfor him. It also elected four vice secretaries, including Anh, for the newtenure.
Hue, born in 1957, was appointed Secretary ofthe municipal Party Committee in the 2015-2020 tenure by the Political Bureauon February 7. Before that, he had served as Deputy Prime Minister from April2016 to February 2020./.
Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong attended and delivered a key speech at the 17th Party Congress of Hanoi which opened on October 12.
The 17th Congress of Hanoi’s Party organisation for the 2020-2025 tenure opened on October 12 morning, with the participation of 497 official delegates representing over 450,000 Party members across the capital city.
Hanoi recorded considerable achievements during the five years of implementing the resolution of the 16th municipal Party Congress for the 2015-2020 tenure.
Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong on October 12 requested that Hanoi make comprehensive and stronger improvements in all aspects so as to develop faster and more sustainably.
The Party chief attributed the achievements in the first half to the continuous, direct, and comprehensive leadership of the Politburo and the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee, and the close and effective coordination of relevant ministries, sectors and localities.
General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the VPA’s General Staff and Deputy Minister of National Defence reaffirmed Vietnam’s unwavering gratitude for Cuba’s invaluable support during its struggle for independence and nation-building efforts, and pledged to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Cuba as it navigates current challenges.

Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang cleared up deputies' concern regarding how to spur socio-economic growth, renew traditional growth motives and establish new momentum for development.
