Hanoi (VNA) – The 17th Congress of Hanoi’s Partyorganisation for the 2020-2025 tenure opened on October 12 morning, with theparticipation of 497 official delegates representing over 450,000 Party membersacross the capital city.
Those attending the opening session includedParty General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong, former PartyGeneral Secretary Nong Duc Manh, former President Truong Tan Sang, NationalAssembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, and former NA Chairman Nguyen VanAn.
In his opening remarks, Politburo member andSecretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue said the 17th municipalParty Congress is a political event of special importance that attracts theattention of the Party Central Committee and people nationwide.
Hanoi is the heart of Vietnam, the country’spolitical and administrative centre, and a big hub for culture, science,education, economic activities and international transactions, he noted, citingthe Party and State leader Nguyen Phu Trong as saying that the municipal Partycongress must be a role model in all aspects and a substantive success.
Hue added the Party organisation, administrationand people of Hanoi are determined to hold a successful congress, thus creatingnew momentum and fundamental improvements in all spheres so that the capitalwill develop faster and more sustainably and live up to expectations of theParty Central Committee, the local Party organisation and populace, and peopleacross the country.
At the event, Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, member of theParty Central Committee and Standing Vice Secretary of the Hanoi PartyCommittee, delivered the 16th-tenure municipal Party Committee’s politicalreport submitted to the city’s 17th Party Congress.
The congress is scheduled to last throughOctober 13./.

NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man stressed the need to accelerate the application of artificial intelligence and smart teaching equipment, innovate teaching and assessment methods, and further improve the quality of formal education.
He also pledged that the NA will promote its ongoing supervision, making sure that every promise must lead to results, and every commitment must bring about real changes.
