HCM City (VNA) – PresidentTran Dai Quang has suggested Can Gio district of Ho Chi Minh City look towardsrapid and sustainable development with a focus on marine economy, agriculture, andecological-historical-craft village tourism.

During a meeting with localconstituents on April 26, he said Ho Chi Minh City should improve Can Gio’stransport infrastructure, accelerate the construction of a bridge connectingCan Gio with Nha Be district while strengthening dykes to prevent erosion inresponse to climate change.

As the only coastal and poorestdistrict of the southern metropolis, the municipal authorities must promptlyconsider locals’ suggestions regarding capital, animal breeds and plantvarieties, technological application in goods manufacturing, andeducation-training, he said, adding that further attention should be paid tosocial welfares, poverty reduction, vocational training and job creation.

He urged them to fine-tune supportpolicies for the poor, armed forces, war heroes and those in charge ofprotecting and managing biosphere forests.
