Hanoi (VNA) – President Tran Dai Quang arrived in Addis Ababa on August 23 afternoon, beginning a State-levelvisit to Ethiopia at the invitation of President Mulatu Teshome.

President Quang and his spouse were greeted at Bole International Airport with a 21-gun salute.

Theyalso watched a traditional Ethiopian dance, which is often performed to welcomeguests.

Later,the Vietnamese State leader held talks with his Ethiopian counterpart  Mulatu Teshome at the Ethiopian presidential palace.

Thisis the first visit by a State leaderof Vietnam to the African country since the two set up diplomatic ties in 1976.

Duringthe visit, the two sides will discussmeasures to boost bilateral ties, particularly in terms of trade and economics.–VNA
