Hanoi (VNA) – A Vietnamese delegation led by Prime MinisterNguyen Xuan Phuc left Hanoi on May 11 morning to attend the World EconomicForum on ASEAN (WEF-ASEAN) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The participation is made at the invitation of the Cambodian Prime Minister SamdechTecho Hun Sen and WEF Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab.
The WEF-ASEAN2017 is themed “Youth, Technology and Growth: Securing ASEAN’s Digital andDemographic Dividends”.
It will focus on assessing ASEAN’s development andintegration and problems the bloc will face in the time ahead. Other issues onthe agenda are ASEAN’s position in the new global geopolitical and economiccontext, the prospect of the ASEAN Economic Community, and impacts of theFourth Industrial Revolution on ASEAN countries.
Vietnam and theWEF began their cooperative relationship in 1989. Since then, the WEF has becomean important dialogue forum between Vietnamese Government leaders and theworld’s leading enterprises.
There are 11Vietnamese businesses which are members of the WEF, including military-runtelecommunications group Viettel, FPT Corporation, VinGroup, VinaCapital, theVietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), the Join Stock CommercialBank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank), and Saigon Invest Group.-VNA
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s participation in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland ((WEF Davos 2017) helped Vietnam access new ideas and development trends in the world serving its building and implementation of national development strategies.
Vietnam has become the first partner of the WEF within the public-private partnership (PPP) model, which is expected to provide Vietnam with access to great resources and relationships.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will lead the Vietnamese delegation to the World Economic Forum on ASEAN, which will take place in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from May 11-12.
The World Economic Forum on ASEAN 2017 (WEF ASEAN 2017), slated for next week in Phnom Penh, is expected to further promote sustainable development, peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
The World Economic Forum on ASEAN would be a chance for Vietnam to affirm its role in and responsibility towards the ASEAN and the region and to promote the country’s growing cooperation with the WEF.
