Glasgow (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had separate meetingswith his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau and Zambian President HakaindeHichilema on November 2 on the sidelines of the 26th United Nations ClimateChange Conference of the Parties (COP26).
During Chinh’s meeting with Trudeau, the two sides expressedtheir delight at the development of the Vietnam-Canada comprehensive partnership in allfields, and agreed to further the bilateral cooperation.
They vowed to actively implement and promote theefficiency of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-PacificPartnership (CPTPP) to which both countries are signatories, and strive tobring two-way trade to over 8 billion USD.
Chinh proposed Canada open up market for Vietnameseagro-aquatic products, hoping that Canadian enterprises will intensifyinvestments in the Southeast Asian nation.
The two leaders agreed that the two countries should speedup negotiations to recognise each other's green visas and vaccine passports.The Vietnamese leader asked Canada to assist Vietnam in reforming andperfecting institutions, technology and green finance, and training humanresources in climate change response and innovation.
The two sides shared the view on maintaining peace andstability and promoting legitimate and lawful interests on the basis ofcomplying with international law for common peace and prosperity. Trudeauaffirmed the spirit of the rule of law, and the importance of promoting arules-based world order.
Chinh proposed Canada create favourable conditions for theVietnamese community to live, work and study in the country, while Trudeauaffirmed his willingness to provide training for Vietnamese students aswell as to promote people-to-people exchanges with Vietnam.
At his meeting with Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema, PMChinh congratulated him on his election. The President of Zambia expressedhis admiration for Vietnam’s impressive and fast development, and proposed the twosides intensify cooperation in trade.
