At the talks, the two leaders will discuss the bilateral relations andcooperation in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. SinceVietnam and Austria officially established diplomatic relations in 1972, thebilateral relationship has witnessed fruitful development across fields, frompolitics, economy, trade and investment, to education-training,science-technology and culture.
Austria is one of the five largest trade partners of Vietnam in the EuropeanUnion (EU). Trade value between the two countries in 2019 reached about 3.6billion USD. Since August 2020, when the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement(EVFTA) took effect, two-way trade has remarkably grown and is expected toachieve even more positive results when this agreement will be fully tapped inthe near future./.
