- Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has approved a project to complete a databaseon natural resources and the environment connected with the information systemsand databases of ministries, sectors, and localities.

It aims to completea digital platform on natural resources and the environment using moderntechnology, ensuring information safety and security, with data serving thebuilding of digital government, economy and society, as well as smart cities.

It is expectedto support the Government and Prime Minister in management and direction efforts,thus enhancing State management, while providing high-quality and fast publicservices on natural resources and the environment and creating an openGovernment data system in the field, contributing to boosting socio-economicdevelopment and ensuring national security and defence.

Under theproject, a platform on natural resources and environment data management,integration, connection, sharing, and use will be completed in 2020, providingonline services to State management agencies, businesses, and the people.

Meanwhile, 100percent of the national database on natural resources and the environment is to havenationwide connections, along with 80 percent of professional databases on naturalresources and the environment.

The project willalso support businesses, organisations, and individuals conducting surveys and measurementand monitoring activities, thus assisting the building of a digital datainfrastructure network and providing digital services.

♛ To this end, the project sketches out a numberof tasks, including building and completing a legal framework for the field andupgrading information technology infrastructure./.

♛ Vietnam pioneers use of AI and remote sensing to monitor seawater quality

According to Dr. Vu Anh Tuan, Deputy Director General of the Vietnam Space Centre and head of the project, this is the first study in Vietnam to simultaneously employ Sentinel-2 satellite data, advanced machine learning algorithms, and the Google Earth Engine (GEE) cloud computing platform to model and monitor key seawater quality parameters.
