Kien Giang (VNA) - Islands off southern Kien Giangprovince and tourist attraction sites reopened over the weekend after socialdistancing measures were eased.

The province allowed the resumption of hospitality andcatering services.

Tourism and travel firms were asked to follow all regulationson COVID-19 prevention based on instructions from the health sector.

Only domestic tourists and expatriates in Vietnam will beallowed to travel to Phu Quoc Island, home to some of the most beautifulbeaches in Southeast Asia, and to other tourist attractions in the province.

Meanwhile, karaoke, massage and spa services, dance and gymclubs, religious festivals and events with gatherings of crowds of more than 20people will continue to be suspended.

Domestic air routes to Phu Quoc Island resumed operation onApril 23, with two flights per day.

Boats carrying passengers between the mainland and theprovince’s islands are allowed to operate two trips per day.

Con Dao island off southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province beganreopening to tourists on April 25, with all water routes to theisland resuming normal operations.

Phu Quoc Express JSC resumed high-speed boat services fromVung Tau city to Con Dao Island, operating with half of its capacity of598 people in compliance with regulations on COVID-19 prevention.

Domestic flights to the island resumed services at theweekend, including the HCM City-Con Dao route and Vung Tau city-Con Dao route,with one return flight per day.

The south central province of Phu Yenallowed local tourist attractions to receive visitors as from April 28.

In the first quarter, the provincewelcomed 347,000 tourists.
