Public Security Minister meets Vietnam embassy staff in US
The US side paid special attention to the visit by Minister of Public Security To Lam given it will step up cooperation in security, one of the pillars of the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and the US, and the bilateral ties in general, said Ambassador of Vietnam to the US Ha Kim Ngoc.

Washington D.C (VNA) – The US side paid special attention to the visit by Minister ofPublic Security To Lam given it will step up cooperation in security, one ofthe pillars of the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and the US, andthe bilateral ties in general, said Ambassador of Vietnam to the US Ha Kim Ngoc.
The diplomat made the statement at the meeting in Washington D.C on April 22 betweenthe Vietnam Embassy’s staff with Politburo member and Minister of PublicSecurity To Lam and his ministry entourage during the latter’s visit to the US.
Minister To Lam told the staff about the outcomes of cooperation between theMinistry of Public Security with US agencies, saying the cooperation has beenstrengthened in the fields of anti-terrorism, the combat against criminalsrelated to drugs, high technology, the environment, and human traffickers, and thehunt of wanted criminals.
He hailed the embassy’s staff for soundly performing their role in enhancing thebilateral ties, suggesting them continue to help with the cooperation betweenministries, sectors and localities of the two countries, and implement citizenprotection work and legal right protection for Overseas Vietnamese, amongothers.
The same day, Lam held a working session with the Vietnamese Permanent Missionto the UN, detailing Vietnam’s security and order in early 2019 and theoutcomes of work between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the UNover the years.-VNA
Although Vietnam and the US have seen encouraging outcomes of cooperation in dealing with war aftermath, there are much for them to do in the field, said Timothy Lieser, senior advisor at the US Senate Appropriations Committee.
