QuangBinh (VNA) – Local residents in central Quang Binh province areconcerned that riverbank erosion along the Son River will damage their housesand land.
Theerosion occurred on the section of the bank bordering the province’s Lien Trachcommune in Bo Trach district, with the eroded section being 30m long and 10mwide inland.
Dinh XuanThuyet, a local resident, said he first discovered the erosion on October 4morning, and it continued every time the area experienced heavy rainfall.
Locals areworried the erosion will move further inland, causing their houses and soil tocollapse into the river.
Hoang MinhTu, Chairman of the Lien Trach People’s Committee of, said the commune hasallocated forces to fence the eroded section of the riverbank, preventingaccidents due to soil erosion. Warnings signs have been put up to stop heavyvehicles from travelling on the road near the erosion site.
For a longterm solution for the erosion, the commune is waiting for a decision fromauthorities at a higher level, Tu said.-VNA
