Quang Nam launches new tourist destinations

Quang Nam (VNA) ꦇ– The Ky Anh tunnelnational historical relic site and the Tam Thanh community art village wereopened to the public on June 9 as part of the Heritage Festival 2017 currentlyunderway in the central province of Quang Nam.

On the occasion, a record was set forVietnam’s first and largest collection of coracles at Tam Thanh village. The Ky Anh tunnel was built in Tam Ky cityof the province during the country’s resistance war against the US.Construction of the 32km tunnel began in 1965 and finished two years later. Thetunnel is between 0.5 – 0.8m wide and 0.8 – 1m high. It was recognised as anational historical relic site in 1997. Local authorities have mobilised resourcesto repair collapsed sections in the relic, contributing to tourism developmentin south Quang Nam province. The same day, Tam Thanh community artvillage in Tam Ky city has started to welcome visitors. As many as 111 painted coracles are ondisplay along the road running along the beach in Tam Thanh commune. There are fiveart installations of coracles which represent local culture and values. Besides, Tam Ky city has set up a home-staycommunity, with the participation of 10 households, along with sightseeingtours on Truong Giang river.-VNA
