Quang Ninh (VNA) ꦍ– The People’s Committee of the northern province of Quang Ninh has announced the launch of new tourist sites in Ha Long Bay as of August 1, 2023.

According to the administration’s Decision No 2162/QĐ-UBND, dated August 1, 2023, there are four zones for entertainment activities in Ha Long Bay, and they are managed by the bay management board. They consist of the Luon Cave area (5.23ha), Cua Van (29.56ha), Dong Tien Lake - Trinh Nu Cave (32.55ha), and Cong Do (62.36ha). Under this decision, the management board oversees measures to guarantee security and safety, prevent environmental pollution, and ensure the compliance with legal regulations on inland waterways traffic in the zones.
The announcement of the entertainment zones in Ha Long Bay has helped tackle many lingering problems relevant to the investment and business of water tourism services. Luon Cave, a sightseeing destination with a poetic and tranquil landscape, is located on Bo Hon Island in the south of Ha Long Bay. It takes tourists only about 20 minutes to go by boat from Tuan Chau Island or Bai Chay beach to this place. The Cua Van fishing village in Hung Thang commune of Ha Long city is about 20km from the nearest tourism wharf of the bay, far away from the urban life, thus its simple beauty remains untouched. Meanwhile, the Dong Tien cave and lake on Bo Hon Island are about 14km from the terminal of Tuan Chau Island, and tourists need 1 hour and 45 minutes to travel by boat to reach there. These sites harbour a pristine flora and fauna system with many novel species valuable for scientific studies.

Trinh Nu Cave, about 15km to the south of Bai Chay beach, is also situated on Bo Hon Island and in the same system with Sung Sot Cave, Dong Tien Lake, and Luon Cave. Local fishermen consider this place as their beloved home. Boasting a tranquil and poetic landscape with the most beautiful coral reef on Ha Long Bay, Cong Do Island, about 23km from the terminal of Tuan Chau Island, is a paradise for travellers. It is also a docking area for overnight cruise ships on the bay. Quang Ninh province is endowed with natural advantages for sea and island tourism. It has a coastline of more than 250 kilometres and more than 2,000 islands and islets which account for two-thirds of the total in Vietnam.
In particular, Ha Long Bay, literally the “bay of the descending dragon”, was twice recognised as a world natural heritage site by UNESCO, in 1994 and 2000. It spans 1,553 square kilometres and includes 1,969 islands of various sizes. It features thousands of limestone karsts and islets in various shapes and sizes. The limestone in the bay has gone through 500 million years of formation in different conditions and environments./.
