Quang Ninh pilots citizen interaction through mobile app

QuangNinh (VNA) - Ha Long city is the first in the northeastern province ofQuang Ninh to use a mobile app to interact with local people, the provincialDepartment of Information and Communication has said.

Deputy Directorof the Department of Information and Communication Nguyen Trung Tien said HaLong city’s Hon Gai and Bach Dang wards have been selected to trial the Ezlifeapp, connecting local people on a number of issues in the wards.

The appwas jointly developed by the Institute of Information and CommunicationTechnology under the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology andthe provincial Department of Information and Communications. It can beinstalled on smartphones.

The appwould provide information from the local government, conveying announcements onadministrative procedures and policies in a fast and accurate way. It wouldreplace loudspeakers, which are backwards and costly.

Localauthorities could survey residents about urban projects and plans in the wards.

Via theapp, local people could submit reports of traffic, environment or securityproblems, or notify official on food safety and hygiene. Feedback statisticswould be shown in the app.

In thefuture, people would be allowed to comment on notifications from localgovernments.

The appprovides emergency hotlines for residents by automatically detecting theirlocation.

It wouldalso increase e-government implementation, such as providing online publicservices that allow people to search websites quickly and provide officialinformation about tourism sites and important events. Information would beprovided in articles, pictures and videos.

Residentsand visitors would be able to evaluate or comment on the places or events. Thefeedback would help local authorities and tourism businesses better supportvisitors and improve the quality of services.

Tien saidthe department would work with relevant authorities to add more functions tothe app, such as implementing online temporary residence registration,electricity and water payments. Earlythis month, residents of the two wards were introduced to the app.

Thedepartment would evaluate the effectiveness of the app during the trial period,Tien said.-VNA
