Thanh Hoa (VNA) – A ceremony was held in the central province of ThanhHoa on May 25 to rebury the remains of 16 fallen soldiers repatriated from Laos.
The remains were found and collected during the 2022-2023dry season.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the provincialPeople’s Committee Dau Thanh Tung thanked the Party Committee, authorities,armed forces and people of Laos’ Houaphanh province for creating favourableconditions for the search for and repatriation of remains of Vietnamesevolunteer soldiers and experts who laid down their lives in Laos duringthe wartime.
Since 1998, thanks to joint efforts of the two countries’units, the remains of thousands of Vietnamese martyrs have been repatriated fromLaos for reburial at home./.
A delegation of leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee on April 27 paid tribute to martyrs at the city cemetery for heroic martyrs on the occasion of the National Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day (May 1).
The Party, State and people will forever remember the merits of heroes, martyrs and veterans, including members of Central Highlands Front B3 under the 3rd Army Corps, said President Vo Van Thuong.
