Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Pham Hung Tam said he hopes that the Canberra administration will continue welcoming Vietnamese delegations for visits and working sessions, viewing such exchanges as vital for enhancing cooperation and understanding between the two nations.
PM Pham Minh Chinh proposed establishing a robust financial connectivity network among major centres such as Ho Chi Minh City, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok, Shanghai, Dubai, and Riyadh to create a seamless inter-regional financial ecosystem, which he said will propel ASEAN – GCC – China cooperation to new heights.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on May 26 joined other ASEAN leaders in the interfaces with ASEAN Youth and representatives from the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC), on the sidelines of the 46th ASEAN Summit and related high-level meetings in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Vietnam is ready to accompany AIPA in creating a strong and prosperous ASEAN where development leaves no one behind and cooperation is limitless, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
In this challenging landscape, the leaders emphasised that ASEAN must reinforce solidarity, assert the value of dialogue, cooperation, and multilateralism, enhance strategic autonomy, and amplify its unified voice in contributing constructively to global processes.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son said the two sides should select annual priority areas that are complementary and aligned with mutual interests, such as trade-investment, connectivity, digital transformation, energy, and the Halal economy.
PM Chinh expressed strong support for the “ASEAN Vision 2045: Our Shared Future”, and outlined three key priorities for cooperation in the coming period.
Vietnam’s high-level delegation joins the summit with a clear message of proactiveness, responsibility, and stronger contributions to ASEAN’s common goals. The country seeks to work closely with other member states to define strategic directions and practical measures to reinforce regional cooperation and elevate ASEAN’s standing in the coming years.
Since joining the group on July 28, 1995, Vietnam has emerged as a linchpin in building a strong, united, and proactive ASEAN with growing global and regional standing.
The ASEAN Community Vision 2045, along with new cooperation strategies, will serve as a framework for joint action, proactive adaptation, and enhanced development in the region, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son said, stressing the need for ASEAN to strengthen its resilience, particularly economic resilience, to withstand external shocks.
A strong and cohesive ASEAN Community brings significant benefits to all member states. Therefore, each nation bears both responsibility and interest in contributing to the bloc’s growth and development.
The Government leader of Vietnam highlighted the pioneering role of the business community in building a resilient ASEAN of fast and sustainable development, aiming to bring prosperity and happiness to its people.
It demonstrates Vietnam’s strong support for Malaysia’s role as the ASEAN Chair this year and reflects the shared determination for build a community that embodies sustainability, inclusiveness, solidarity and strength while consolidating ASEAN’s central role in regional peace and stability, Viet said.
This marks the first official visit by a Vietnamese PM to Malaysia in a decade, and the first visit by a key Vietnamese leader since the two countries elevated their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership in November last year.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's Malaysia visit will provide a direct platform for reviewing the implementation of key bilateral initiatives under current partnership framework, including those in trade and investment, the Halal industry, and oil and gas; for exploring new frameworks in green economy and clean energy; and for enhancing people-to-people exchange.
PM Pham Minh Chinh is scheduled to hold talks and meetings with Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim and other high-ranking leaders. They will share views on their respective national developments and engage in in-depth discussions on strategic visions to advance bilateral relations.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet affirmed the long-standing and resilient ties between ASEAN and New Zealand, built on mutual trust, respect, and shared values of a peaceful, stable, and prosperous region. In their talks and meetings, the Vietnamese Party chief and leaders of Indonesia, Singapore, and the ASEAN Secretariat agreed to strengthen coordination at regional and global forums, and work closely with the bloc's member states to step up cooperation towards the successful building of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045.
Experts held that the state visit to Indonesia and official visits to the ASEAN Secretariat and Singapore by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam from March 9-13 achieved all the set objectives at a high level, with the most notable accomplishment being the upgrade of Vietnam’s relations with the two countries.
In his interview granted to the press, Son highlighted the significance of the Party chief's trips, saying that both Indonesia and Singapore, and the ASEAN Secretariat, placed great importance on the visits, offering the General Secretary, his spouse and the Vietnamese delegation the highly dignified reception, accompanied by practical working programmes.
Party General Secretary To Lam, his spouse Ngo Phuong Ly, and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation left Jakarta on March 11, concluding their three-day state visit to Indonesia and official visit to the ASEAN Secretariat.
In particular, defining ASEAN as a multilateral cooperation mechanism with direct and leading importance, Vietnam will promote its sense of responsibility, actively contribute to the common affairs of the association with creative mindset, innovative approaches, flexible effective implementation, and drastic actions, the Party chief said.

Party General Secretary To Lam's visit to the ASEAN Secretariat and headquarters marks a historic milestone as this is the first by a Vietnamese Party General Secretary. It reaffirms Vietnam’s strong commitment to ASEAN amidst the bloc’s transition towards delivering on its development visions.
This marks the first visit by a General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam to Indonesia in nearly eight years, since August 2017, and also the first by a Vietnamese Party chief to the ASEAN Secretariat.
