Ho Chi Minh City is a symbol of not only the spectacular development ofVietnam but also the sound economic cooperation between Vietnam andthe Republic of Korea (RoK), visiting President Park Geun-hye hassaid.
During a working session with Secretary ofthe municipal Party Committee Le Thanh Hai, the RoK President cited thatmore than 1,800 RoK businesses are operating in the city and over80,000 RoK nationals live in this southern economic hub of Vietnam .
Hai, who is also a politburo member of the CommunistParty of Vietnam (CPV), described President Park ’s visit as asignificant contribution to consolidating the fine relations betweenVietnam and the RoK.
He said that his city hasenjoyed close ties with a lot of RoK partners, many of whom haveoperated effectively in the locality.
Ties betweenHCM City and RoK partners exist not only in trade, investment andtourism, but also in the expanding cultural and people-to-peopleexchanges, he said.
Hai expressed his hope that inthe future President Park will pay more attention to support RoKenterprises invest in Vietnam and HCM City in particular.
President Park noted that at first, RoK businesses focused onthe garment and textile sector and light industry, however, as theinvestment environment in HCM City improved and developed, RoKbusinesses have expanded their operations to various sectors with highadded value like high technology, electricity and heavy industry.
She said she believes that in the future, more and more RoK businesseswill invest in HCM City and Vietnam ’s southern provinces, andhopes that municipal authorities will give more attention and supportto the businesses, allowing them to make bigger contributions to theeconomic development of the city.
Sharing herimpressions of Vietnam, President Park said through meetingswith Vietnamese leaders and people, she can feel the in-depth friendshipand mutual trust between the two countries that has existed for thelast two decades.
In particular, the economiccooperation process between the two countries has significantlycontributed to improving the living conditions of people of bothcountries, she added.
On the occasion, PresidentPark visited Hansae Vietnam Company in Tay Bac-Cu ChiIndustrial Park and had a meeting with the RoK business community inHCM City.-VNA
