Russian, Japanese guests to perform in Hanoi concert

Two guest artists will be the highlight of a concert with the Vietnam National Symphony and Orchestra (VNSO) on June 6-7.
Two guest artists will be the highlight of a concert with the Vietnam National Symphony and Orchestra (VNSO) on June 6-7.

Theartists are Russian conductor Alexander Polyanichko and Japanesepianist Tamura Hibiki. The night performances will feature PianoConcerto No1 and Symphony No5 by Tchaikovsky.

The concert willopen with Hibiki's playing Piano Concerto No1. The pianist is studyingat the University Mozarteum of Salzburg in Austria.

He has wonmany awards, including the first prize at the Long-Thibaud InternationalPiano Competition in France, 2007. He has performed in France, Germany,Italy, Egypt and China.

Conductor Polyanichko is a violinist. Hestudied conducting music at the St Petersburg Conservatoire. Sincethen, he has performed with the Mariinsky Opera and Ballet Theatre inmany countries.

He has worked with major opera companies fromacross the world, including the Bolshoi Theatre, the Danish Royal Operaand the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

He has also been part of the jury at singing contests, including the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition in 2011.

He has performed in Hanoi previously, on the occasion of Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Vietnam in 2013.

The concert will begin at 8pm at the Hanoi Opera House.-VNA
