SEA Games 29: U22 Vietnam beat Timor-Leste 4-0

Vietnam’s U22 football team defeated Timor-Leste 4-0 in the first opening match of Group B of the 29th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Malaysia on August 15.

Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Vietnam’s U22 football team defeated Timor-Leste4-0 in the first opening match of Group B of the 29th Southeast Asian Games(SEA Games) in Malaysia on August 15.

The Vietnamese players scored three goals in the first half and the fourth goalin the second half of the match.

The same day, the two rivals of the same group - U22 Thailand and Indonesia –drew 1-1.

U22 Vietnam are scheduled to play against U22 Cambodia on August 17.

Vietnam, a five-time silver medalist, have never won the coveted SEA Gamesfootball gold. They were drawn in Group B, considered as the "group ofdeath", along with Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Timor Lester, and thePhilippines.

Vietnamese coach Nguyen Huu Thang has affirmed that his team were determined towin the SEA Games title this year.-VNA
