Senegal hopes for stronger all-round ties with Vietnam
Vietnamese Ambassador to Senegal Nguyen Thanh Vinh has presented his credentials to President of the host country Macky Sall, who said he expects stronger cooperation with Vietnam in various aspects.

Algiers (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassadorto Senegal Nguyen Thanh Vinh has presented his credentials to President of thehost country Macky Sall, who said he expects stronger cooperation with Vietnamin various aspects.
Welcoming the Vietnamese diplomat on March 10,President Sall said he hopes the envoy will make active contributions to thefriendship and cooperation between the two nations.
The host leader highly valued Vietnam’s strugglefor national independence, liberation and defence in the past as well as itsreform and development successes at present.
He said Senegal and Vietnam are friends with along-standing friendship, voicing his hope for stronger bilateral cooperation insuch fields as trade, investment, agriculture and industry.
The President also described their partnershipin wet rice cultivation as a good experience and noted that Vietnamese dishesare very popular in his country.
For his part, Vinh expressed his honour to serveas Vietnam’s top representative in Senegal, a country with culture associated withrivers like Vietnam and a fastest GDP growth rate in Africa in recent years.
He also repeated Vietnamese Party GeneralSecretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong’s invitation to visit thecountry to the Senegalese President.
The diplomat affirmed that Vietnam alwaystreasures and wishes to enhance the traditional friendship and multifacetedcollaboration with Senegal, especially in the areas both have strength in suchas agriculture, marine economy and trade.
He vowed utmost efforts to help enhance the twocountries’ friendship and cooperation in the time ahead.
On March 9, Ambassador Vinh presented a copy ofhis credentials to Senegalese Foreign Minister Amadou Ba, who said the twonations boast time-tested relations and share common values, and that hiscountry looks to promote all-round ties with Vietnam.
Vinh also conveyed Deputy Prime Minister andForeign Minister Pham Binh Minh’s invitation to visit Vietnam to MinisterAmadou Ba. He pledged to coordinate closely with relevant agencies to bringbilateral relations to a new height./.
A trade promotion programme was held in Senegal by the Trade Office of the Vietnamese Embassy in Algeria and Senegal from December 2-8 to boost trade relations between the two nations.
Vietnam’s current position in the region shows that the countries is attached to peace and it is not by chance that Vietnam is selected and supported by countries in the region as the only candidate for election to the United Nations Security Council this time, according to a high-ranking Senegal diplomat.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
