Singapore (VNA) – Singapore has discovered 16 new cases of mosquito-borne Zika virus, bringing the total number to 258 since the first reported on August 27.

The new cases are not related to the earlier areas and cases of Zika infection.

The Singaporean government hoped that the cases found in different areas would help determine the presence of Aedes mosquitoes and help the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the National Environment Agency (NEA) to devise strategies to control Zika virus.

The MOH said cases waiting for test results will not be isolated while cases positive with the virus do not need to be hospitalised unless displaying signs of weak health.

As from September 6, the ministry will expand assistance for Zika virus tests for Singaporean citizens with signs and symptoms of the disease.

The Singaporean government has so far implemented man𒅌y so❀lutions to prevent the spread of the Zika virus.-VNA
