Singapore (VNA) – US President Barack Obama and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong have vowed to increase the exchange of intelligence information and coordinate efforts in the combat against terrorism.
The combat against terrorists and threats from the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) , which caught the top concern of the international community today, was raised during the two leaders’ meeting on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit and the East Asia Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on November 22.
They also discussed how to boost economic cooperation and showed their belief in prospects for new opportunities to be created by the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).
Regarding the East Sea issue, President Obama emphasised the importance of abiding by international law in order to safeguard peace and stability in the region, affirming that the Asia-Pacific will always be a strategic interest of the US.
