Hanoi, (VNA) – Singaporean President Halimah Yacob and her spousebegan a State visit to Vietnam on October 16 at the invitation of PresidentNguyen Xuan Phuc.
This is the first State visit by a foreign head ofState to Vietnam since the 13th National Party Congress, and alsothe first trip overseas by the President of Singapore since the COVID-19 brokeout.
The visit takes place when the two countries are looking toward the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relationship and the 10th year oftheir strategic partnership in 2023.
During the visit from October 16-20, President Halimah Yacob is scheduled to paytribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum, hold talks with PresidentPhuc, and pay courtesy visits to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong,National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Shewill also receive the Secretary of the Party Committee of Hanoi, visit theVietnam-Singapore Industrial Park I (VSIP I), hold a working session with BacNinh leaders and engage in some activities in Ho Chi Minh City.
The State visit by the Singaporean President is expected tocontribute to strengthening political trust and promoting cooperation in allaspects between the two countries./.
Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies Heng Swee Keat visited Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) 1 in the southern province of Binh Duong on September 14, during which he hailed the VSIP as the most successful model in Vietnam-Singapore partnership.
Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen highlighted his city’s wish to further enhance substantive cooperation with Singapore while meeting with visiting Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat on September 15.

The State visit to Vietnam from October 16 to 20 by Singaporean President Halimah Yacob aims to elevate bilateral relations and further intensify the strategic partnership between the two countries, according to Vietnamese Ambassador Mai Phuoc Dung.
Nghia affirmed that this is a milestone of special significance, affirming and honouring the the Vietnamese revolutionary press’s glorious tradition of 100 years of serving the revolutionary cause of the Party, serving the Fatherland, and serving the people.

Vietnam is ready to work with the Chinese Party and State to further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and promote the building of the Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
Under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh and the CPV, President Cuong said, the press has been a steadfast force on the ideological and cultural front, rallying the masses to pursue national aspirations.
NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man stressed the need to accelerate the application of artificial intelligence and smart teaching equipment, innovate teaching and assessment methods, and further improve the quality of formal education.

The country is willing to participate in collective efforts to promote cooperation and mobilise resources to advance the current priority issues of developing countries, such as trade, investment, infrastructure connectivity, making the most of scientific and technological advances for development, and people-to-people exchanges, Hang said.
During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
