“Spring for Children” programme to give poor children warmer Tet

Hanoi (VNA) –“Spring for Children” programme, which aims help poor children enjoy a warmerLunar New Year (Tet) festival, will be held on January 14, revealed the organisingboard during a press conference on January 12.

The event, the 10th of its kind so far, will review the outcomes of the programme in the pastdecade and honour sponsors during the time, said Hoang Van Tien, Director ofthe Fund for Children Support.

He said that during theevent, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs will presentcertificates of merits to a number of individuals and organisations withoutstanding contributions to the protection and care for children in 2016.

Attractive music and danceperformances will also be held for children as part of the programme which willbe broadcast live on Vietnam Television Channel 2, he added.

According to Tien, lastyear, the find supported over 185,500 children with a total aid of 100 billionVND, while organising a number of activities for children, including healthcare and nutrition programmes, education assistance and support in protectingand optimising growth of children.

Before the start of theevent, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh who is also President of the SupportCouncil of the fund will host a reception at the Presidential Palace for 40organisations and individuals with active contributions to activities forchildren in 2016.-VNA
