Hanoi (VNA) 🅷– A project titled“End Violence against Children” of the World Vision Vietnam was launched onJanuary 6.
Vietnam is among four Mekong countries benefitingfrom the four-year project, as an effort to end violence against children. With a budget of over 1.5 million USD, theproject will be implemented in four districts of the northern mountainousprovinces of Yen Bai and Dien Bien. The project aims to create an environment inwhich vulnerable children and youth from age 12 to 24 will be cared for andprotected with the support of their families and communities. The target children and youths will beequipped with necessary knowledge and skills to protect themselves and preventhuman trafficking through club activities, vocational training, small-scaled start-upsand personal assistance.-VNA
UN organisations will assist Vietnam in improving its national system for child protection and changing social attitudes towards violence against children, following the One UN Strategic Plan for 2017
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam Women’s Union agreed to implement a programme to enhance the role of families in preventing domestic violence.
As many as 20,000 domestic violence cases have been reported each year in the last five years with increasingly serious violence, according to Ministry of Health statistics.

At a review conference held on June 21, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh praised the province’s scientific, coordinated, and flexible approach. He noted that the early completion reflects the strong commitment of local authorities, the business community, philanthropists, and residents in improving housing conditions for disadvantaged groups.
The VNA delegation, led by General Director Vu Viet Trang, actively participated in the event, engaging in both professional and diplomatic activities.
