Spring Summer Fashion Week brings audience close to nature

Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - The Vietnam Fashion Week Spring Summer2019 is taking place at Bach Thao (Botanical) Garden in Hanoi, bringingaudience back to their memories of childhood and close to nature, said designerMinh Hanh.

Hanh is one of 15 designers from HCM City, Hue and Hanoi participating in the event which started on September 11. They gathered at a press conference on September 10 to introduce the fashion week.

Hanh is a veteran designer and co-founder of the Vietnam Fashion Week, which isheld biannually on Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter seasons.

“This year the collections will be presented at a special catwalk of BotanicalGarden instead of indoor stages with arrangement and decorations,” said Hanh.

“I think Botanical Garden with luxuriant flowers and trees is an ideal place toperform outfits for spring/summer season.”

She said that there is a trend to come closer to nature at fashion eventsworldwide, and Vietnam Fashion Week is not an exception.

“This time, audiences will enjoy fashion on the background of foliage, withoutfussy decorations. The programme promises to bring an authentic and truthfulexperience of fashion.”

“Many people don’t know where Nung Mountain is, and express surprise whenlearning there is a mountain in the heart of Hanoi. There is the fact that NungMountain in particular and Botanical Garden in general are familiar amongHanoians. They evoke memories of childhood.”

“So I want to make an image of Botanical Garden popular among people,especially younger people.”

The designers will bring their latest collections inspired by nature,traditional culture and contemporary life. They feature materials suitable forspring and summer such as silk, denim, khaki, voile and tussore. Some usetraditional technique of printing and hand-embroidery to make theircollections.

Models set to perform during the fashion week include Kim Dung, Tra Mi, Thuy Tienand Hong Que.

Spanish designer Diego Cortizas, owner of the Chula brand, said this year hewill use dark colours like black and navy.

“Chula is often known for designs with strong colours and colour blocking. NowI want to make a difference from collections of other designers who oftenchoose bright colours for spring/summer season.”

Designer Ngoc Han, known for the printing-on-fabric technique, will alsosurprise by introducing a collection of minimalism.

“I choose white as the main colour for my collection to bring relaxed feelingfor spring/summer. The designs are simple, minimalised and elegant with silkscarves as accessories,” she said.

The Vietnam Fashion Week Spring Summer 2019 runs from September 11-13 at NungMountain, Botanical Garden, 3 Hoang Hoa Tham Street, Hanoi.-VNS/VNA
