Hanoi (VNA) - ASEAN sprint queen Le TuChinh will begin a long training residence at the IMG Academy in Florida thisDecember.
Deputy Chairman and General Secretary of the HCMCity Athletics Federation Nguyen Trung Hinh announced the news at a meeting inHCM City on October 27.
At the Southeast Asian Games in Malaysia inAugust, Chinh won the 100m and 200m. The unstoppable 20-year-old then teamed upwith Nguyen Thi Mong Tuyen, Tran Thi Yen Hoa and Do Thi Quyen to win the 4x100min a time of 43.88, a Games record.
During her training in the US, Chinh will competein many tournaments to hone her skills and gain experience.
Expert Loren Seagrave will oversee Chinh’straining. Seagrave coached Donovan Bailey of Canada to take gold and break theworld record in the men’s 100m category in 1996.
Seagrave was present at Thong Nhat Stadium in HCMCity on October 26 to watch Chinh competing in the National AthleticsChampionship.
Chinh said she will try her best to improve viatraining in the US to gain a medal at the Asian Games 2018 and win a ticket tocompete in the 2020 Olympics.
Besides Chinh, HCM City will send several otherathletes to the Academy for shot-term periods, including triple jump competitorTran Thi Hue Hoa.-VNA

New Southeast Asia sprint queen Le Tu Chinh is heading to conquer a new challenge later this month at the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) in Turkmenistan.
It is the first time that the country is to hold a G1-level tournament which is expected to lure more than 100 athletes of 15 countries and regions at Go Vap Gymnasium.
