State, NA leaders welcome Russian Prime Minister

ThePresident echoed the Russian PM’s opinion that accelerating the signingof a free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurosian EconomicUnion in the first half this year will facilitate the realisation of thetargeted 10 billion USD in trade between the two nations by 2020, aswell as stimulating investment and production in the two countries.

The President hailed the talks between the two Prime Ministers andexpressed his pleasure at the active implementation of the agreements onoil and gas, and nuclear power between the two nations, including theNinh Thuan 1 Nuclear Power Plant.

He alsostressed the need to apply advanced technology, ensure the highestlevel of security and safety and boost the cooperation in militarytechnology and personnel training.

PresidentTruong Tan Sang also hailed Russia’s plan to foster bilateral bankingcooperation, including using national currencies for mutual settlementsin a bid to boost trade between the two nations.

For his part, the Russian PM affirmed his country continually backs Vietnam at multi-lateral forums.

He also conveyed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invitation toPresident Sang to visit Russia on the upcoming occasion of the 70 thanniversary of the great Victory in early May.

The same day, NA Chairman Hung met with the Russian PM, expressing hisbelief that the outcomes of the talks between the two PMs will serve asa new driving force for the strategic comprehensive ties betweenVietnam and Russia.

The NA strongly supportsagreements between the two governments, he said, adding that the NA willstrengthen its monitoring to ensure effective implementation of theagreements between the two nations

Russian PMMedvedev hailed Vietnam’s significant achievements in recent years,expressing his belief that the relations between the two nations and NAswill continue to develop.

The RussianGovernment and parliament will support and cooperate with Vietnam ininternational and regional forums, he said.

He alsocalled for closer cooperation between two countries, people-to-peopleexchanges as well as improved connection between the respectivebusinesses to contribute to increasing trade between Vietnam and Russia.-VNA
