State President Luong Cuong arrives in Cairo, beginning state visit to Egypt
President Cuong’s visit is taking place in the context of positive development of Vietnam - Egypt relations. This is the first visit to Egypt by a key Vietnamese leader in seven years.

Cairo (VNA) 🍒– State President Luong Cuong, his spouse Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam arrived in Cairo on August 3 afternoon, starting their state visit to Egypt at the invitation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his spouse.
President Cuong, his spouse and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation were welcomed at Cairo International Airport by Egyptian Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel Latif; Vietnamese Ambassador to Egypt Nguyen Huy Dung and his wife; the Vietnamese Ambassadors to Algeria, Morocco, Mozambique, South Africa, Nigeria and Tanzania; and officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt.
President Cuong’s visit is taking place in the context of positive development of Vietnam - Egypt relations. This is the first visit to Egypt by a key Vietnamese leader in seven years. This is an important foreign political event of the two countries, which holds strategic significance, with long-term impacts on the development of the Vietnam - Egypt relations as the two countries are entering a new era of development.

Through this visit, leaders of both nations hope to bring the bilateral relations to a new height in order to open up a new space with much potential and room for friendly and cooperative ties for a prosperous future, while building and better exploiting new cooperation mechanisms on the basis of respecting international law and independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political institutions of each country.
During the visit, President Cuong is scheduled to have high-level talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi; met with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, President of the Senate Abdel Wahab Abdel-Razek and Speaker of the House of Representatives Hanafy El-Gebaly.
The Vietnamese leader is also expected to deliver a policy speech at the Arab League (AL)'s headquarters, and met with leaders of the Egyptian Communist Party and representatives of Egyptian leftist and progressive parties.
On this occasion, the State President also met with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and agencies, and Vietnamese people living, studying and working in Egypt./.
Egypt stands out as one of Vietnam’s most important trading partners and a promising market in Africa. Notably, Egypt was the first North African country to officially recognise Vietnam as a full market economy in November 2013.
Through President Luong Cuong's visits, Vietnam will send a policy message to African countries and the international community that Vietnam is a nation with a growing role and position in the international arena, and it is confidently stepping into a new era.
This trip is a significant political and diplomatic event for both countries, carrying special meaning as it reflects a strong commitment to creating breakthroughs, elevating bilateral relations, reinforcing political trust, and further deepening the traditional friendship.
The leaders noted that the two sides had agreed to turn scientific and technological cooperation into a pillar and a new highlight of bilateral relations.
This is a crucial session to consider and give opinions on a wide range of issues to be submitted to the NA's 10th sitting – the final of the current term, which will review the 2021–2026 tenure and prepare for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s first general election.
The signed documents include a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on scientific and technological cooperation, an MoU on copyright and related rights cooperation, and another on strengthening collaboration in renewable energy.
Vietnam’s participation in AMNEX 3 demonstrates its commitment as a member of the ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting (ANCM) and responds to the invitation of the Royal Malaysian Navy, showing support for multilateral international activities hosted by Malaysia.
Since the two countries established their diplomatic ties in 1992, the bilateral relationship has become a model of a very special, effective, and substantive partnership.
Addressing the meeting, Party General Secretary To Lam expressed his pleasure at meeting a large number of Vietnamese living and working in the RoK, acknowledging and appreciating their efforts in contributing to the growing Vietnam–RoK partnership.
He also welcomed the “Vietnam Private Sector Panorama” as a platform for dialogue, awareness-raising, and inspiring a wealth-creation movement, emphasising that it must deliver tangible results.
During a meeting on August 10 in Seoul with 100 representatives from the RoK’s intellectuals, associations, people’s organisations, businesses, and non-governmental organisations operating in Vietnam, Party General Secretary To Lam expressed his gratitude to Korean friendship, economic, cultural associations, universities, research institutes, individuals, and NGOs for their significant contributions to nurturing the Vietnam–RoK relationship.
