Thai Prime Minister begins official visit to Vietnam

Hanoi (VNA) - Prime Minister of Thailand Paetongtarn Shinawatra arrived in Hanoi on May 15, beginning her two-day offi𝕴cial visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
The Thai PM was welcomed at Noi Bai international airport by Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cuong, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung.
During this visit, PM Chinh and PM Paetongtarn will co-chair the 4th Vietnam - Thailand Joint Cabinet Meeting.

PM Paetongtarn’s government places great importance on strengthening cooperation with ASEAN countries, including Vietnam, particularly in terms of economics and tourism.
Talking to Vietnam News Agency (VNA) correspondents in Bangkok, Ambassador Hung stated that Paetongtarn’s trip marks the first official visit by a Thai PM in 11 years, since PM Prayut Chan-o-cha’s visit in 2014. It comes at a significant time when the two countries are looking forward to the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1976–2026), an important milestone in the history of their bilateral ties.
Against the backdrop of the enhanced strategic partnership, which has seen comprehensive and substantive development across various fields, the visit offers an important opportunity for the two countries to elevate their relationship to a new height in a more practical and effective manner, the diplomat said./.
The ambassador highlighted the longstanding, close, and warm relationship between Vietnam and Thailand, noting that this visit is significant as both sides are working together for upgrading their ties to a higher level.
Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra’s official visit to Vietnam is of significance as it takes place at a time when the international order is being affected by increasing geopolitical tensions and trade conflicts.
Thai Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Russ Jalichandra affirmed that Thailand always treasures and wants to further strengthen its Enhanced Strategic Partnership with Vietnam.
Under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh and the CPV, President Cuong said, the press has been a steadfast force on the ideological and cultural front, rallying the masses to pursue national aspirations.
NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man stressed the need to accelerate the application of artificial intelligence and smart teaching equipment, innovate teaching and assessment methods, and further improve the quality of formal education.

Deputy PM Le Thanh Long proposed countries promote shared values, including building trust, sincerity, and solidarity among nations and peoples; fostering cooperation spirit and responsible behaviour as well as upholding international law and the UN Charter; and placing people at the centre and as the goal, the key player, and the driving force of all policies.
The show, together with a grand parade to be held silmutaneously at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, the National Day, and the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA).

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
The ministry has instructed Vietnamese representative agencies in Israel, Iran, as well as those in neighbouring countries, to closely monitor the situation and request local authorities to ensure absolute safety for Vietnamese citizens living, studying, and working in high-risk areas.
