Thai Son Nam beat Australian club to win regional futsal title

Thai Son Nam FC of Vietnam defended their title at the ASEAN Football Federation Futsal Club Championship when they trounced Dural Warriors of Australia 3-1 in the final in Thailand on November 29.

Hanoi (VNA) – Thai Son Nam FC of Vietnam defen🐷ded their title at the ASEAN Football Feder🍃ation Futsal Club Championship when they trounced Dural Warriors of Australia 3-1 in the final in Thailand on November 29.

The HCM City-based squad, who did not drop a game in the group stage with three wins and one draw, however, were not the team who set up the pace of the match from the beginning. Dural Warriors took the reins to force Thai Son Nam to back pedal, as they were pressed into their own half.
But it was the defending champions who went ahead in the second half when Trinh Ngoc Hoa opened the score at the 24th mark. Hoa slotted the ball in between the legs of keeper Tani Rosekelly, who had a perfect tournament, so far. Thai Thi Thao doubled the advantage for Thai Son Nam about 10 minutes.
Later, before Dural Warriors narrowed the result with a goal by Yatim. But with a minute left on the clock, Vo Thi Ngan Giang rounded off the fine afternoon for Thai Son Nam's, to win their second title in two years. It was their second win over the Australian team, who were one of the title favourites. In their group round, Thai Son Nam won 1-0.
Earlier, Asian Scholars of the hosts finished third in the championship this year, after beating Felda United from Malaysia 4-3 at the Bangkok Arena in Nong Chok.-VNA
