Bangkok (VNA/NNT) - The National Food Institute of Thailand has predicted bright pro🍸spects for Thai food exports this year, especially to Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam or the CLMV market.

According to the institute, an economic assessment conducted by the International Monetary Fund on the CLMV indicated that their GDP growth this year is likely to rise. Consumers in the four countries are expected to have more purchasing power, while employment and wages will increase accordingly.
Last year, Thai food exports, particularly beverages, relied mainly on the CLMV market. Fruit and vegetable juices as well as milk products saw healthy growth in these countries and are expected to continue the same trend this year amid rising demand.
The institute pointed out that Thai food products boast their high quality and standards, which will help maintain their popularity in the CLMV. For small and medium-sized enterprises looking to export their goods to the neighboring countries, the institute suggested they experiment with smaller markets along the borders before hitting larger ones in major cities.-VNA
