Thailand, Russia foster multilateral ties

Bangkok (VNA) – Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will visit Russia from May 17-19 to forge the bilateral ties and sign a number of cooperation agꩲreements between🌞 the two nations, annoucned the Thai Foreign Ministry on May 13.

The visit will mark the first visit of a Thai PM to Russian for the past 11 years. The two nations will mark the 120 th anniversary of their diplomatic ties next year.
The Thai PM is scheduled to meet with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev to discuss bilateral cooperation in politics, economy, energy, education and culture, with focus on food and energy security. They will also discuss Thailand’s participation in the Asian-European Economic Union and witness the signing of cooperation agreements on military and agriculture.
The Thai premier will attend the ASEAN-Russia Summit and meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi on May 19. Thailand and Russia set to increase bilateral trade by five times from the current 2.9 billion USD in the next five years.-VNA
