Thailand’s economy forecast to grow 3.9 percent in 2017

The Office of the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB) has forecast that Thailand's 2017 economy will expand by 3.9 percent and will continue its growth momentum into next year.

Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - The Office of the National Economic and SocialDevelopment Board (NESDB) has forecast that Thailand's 2017 economy will expandby 3.9 percent and will continue its growth momentum into next year. 

NESDB Secretary-General Porametee Vimolsiri revealed that the Thai economy inthe third quarter of the year is expected to expand by 4.3 percent, due to theexport sector registering a 19-quarter high of 12.5 percent growth, along witheconomy recovery in the country's trade partners and improvements commodityprices worldwide. 

Thailand's economy this year is expected to expandby 3.9 percent due to the government's stimulus policies, although risks remainin external factors and exchange rates. The 2018 economy is forecast to expandin the range of 3.6 - 4.6 percent due to global recovery, state investmentprojects, and growth in the tourism and consumer sectors. 

Over the past three years, the government hassought to boost the Kingdom's credibility among investors and maintainpolitical and economic stability. Its efforts have reportedly resulted in anannual growth rate of almost 4 percent.-VNA
