Thanh Hoa (VNA) – The north centralprovince of Thanh Hoa is taking measures to prevent forest fires duringhot weather.
The locality is home to 32,680 hectares of forestin 162 communes, with high risks of wildfires in the mountainous districts ofMuong Lat, Quan Son, and Quan Hoa, and delta areas of Ha Trung, Hoang Hoa andHau Loc districts.
Deputy head of the provincial forest protectiondepartment Mai Huu Phuc said the districts have prepared hundreds of firefighting and prevention measures. Thedepartment has also regularly examined fire fighting equipment and ispiloting software to early detect forest fires. Forestrangers also worked with local authorities to increase around-the-clockinspection at fire hotspots.
Muong Lat,Quan Son and Quan Hoa districts strengthened cooperation with Laos to buildremote fire prevention solutions.
Since thebeginning of this year, Thanh Hoa has held nearly 500 conferences to raisepublic awareness of forest protection and wildfire prevention at the communallevel, with more than 24,300 people participating.-VNA
