Three scenarios for holding SEA Games 31, Para Games 11 unveiled

The organising committee of the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) and 11th Southeast Asian Para Games (Para Games 11) has devised three scenarios in response to developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Vietnam Sports Administration.

Hanoi (VNA) – The organising committee of the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games31) and 11th Southeast Asian Para Games (Para Games 11) has devised threescenarios in response to developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, according tothe Vietnam Sports Administration.

The first one is thatthe regional sporting events may take place as normal as COVID-19 is broughtunder control.

Another possibility isthat they will be held although the pandemic remains rampant, posing numerous obstaclesand challenges in applying preventive measures and hosting the Gamesconcurrently.

The postponement orcancellation of the events prompted by the absence of various delegations amidcomplicated developments of the pandemic in some Southeast Asian countries, isthe last scenario.

SEA Games 31 is scheduledto be held from November 21 to December 2 in Hanoi and 10 nearby localities, featuring40 sports and more than 520 events. The opening and closing ceremonies willtake place at the city’s My Dinh Stadium.

Meanwhile, ASEAN ParaGames 11 will take place in the capital city from December 17-28 with 14 sportsand about 400 competition events./.
