Thua Thien-Hue: Ancient Cham tower announced as world record
The History Museum of the central province of Thua Thien - Hue on June 27 held a ceremony to announce the national and world records for the local Phu Dien Cham Tower, as it has been recognised the first ancient Cham tower sinking deep under the coastal sand dunes to be excavated and preserved in Vietnam and the world.
Thua Thien – Hue (VNA) – The History Museum of thecentral province of Thua Thien - Hue on June 27 held a ceremony to announce the national and world records for the local Phu Dien Cham Tower, as it has been recognised the first ancient Cham tower sinking deep under the coastal sanddunes to be excavated and preserved in Vietnam and the world.
In April 2001, the tower was discovered in the coastal sanddunes of Phu Dien commune, Phu Vang district. It is buried in the sand from5-7m under the ground.
Director of the museum, theoverall view of the building is a rectangular architectural block that getssmaller toward the top. It is one of the earliest remaining Cham brickstructures in the central region, dating back to around the 8th century.

With such values, the tower, accredited as a national architecturaland art relic since December 2001, earned its record recognition by both the VietnamRecords Organisation (Vietkings) and the World Records Union (WorldKings) thisyear./.
The central province of Quang Nam, in cooperation with the Institute for Conservation of Monuments under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, will begin an urgent project to protect the B3 tower in the UNESCO-recognised My Son Sanctuary from collapse before the rainy season.
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam presented a certificate recognising Nhan Tower in the central coastal province of Phu Yen as a national special relic site to local authorities during the opening of a festival of ethnic Cham culture on August 19.
Nhan Tower, known to the locals simply as Cham Tower, is located on a hilltop near Nhan Mountain, on the northern bank of the Da Rang River in Tuy Hoa city, Phu Yen province.
Located on the Trau hill, 6km from Phan Rang Thap Cham city, the central coastal province of Ninh Thuan, Po Klong Garai Tower is considered the greatest tower of the Cham people still existing.
Leaders in the central city of Da Nang recently handed over a certificate to authorities in Hoa Tho Dong ward in Cam Le district recognising the Cham Phong Le archaeological site as a city-level relic, in an effort to improve the management and preservation of the site.
The Vietnamese team will gather on June 26 in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, where they will train until July 14 before departing for Indonesia for the ASEAN U23 Championship 2025, which runs from July 15 to 29. Vietnam will face Laos on July 19 and Cambodia on July 22 in the group stage.
The exhibition showcases more than 100 valuable documents and artifacts, divided into two main parts: “Journalist Nguyen Ai Quoc – Ho Chi Minh” and “President Ho Chi Minh – Founder and Mentor of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press.” This is an opportunity to recall the late leader’s journalism journey and affirm his exceptional role in founding and guiding the revolutionary press in Vietnam.
For the first time, the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) has granted Vietnam hosting rights for the two championships, including the Asian women’s solo category, which debuts this year as an officially recognised event.

The U23 competition will run from June 16 to 22, followed by the U17 event from June 23 to 28, while athletes competing in the U23 category will undergo weight and skill checks ahead of the matches starting June 18, while similar checks for U17 athletes will take place before June 23.
Vietnam continues to sit just behind continental powerhouses Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia, China, and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
