Thua Thien-Hue taps potential of green power projects

The central province of Thua Thien – Hue is giving priority to green energy projects, especially solar power.

Thua Thien – Hue (VNA) – The central province ofThua Thien – Hue is giving priority to green energy projects, especially solarpower.

In Phong Dien district, the Phong Dien TTC solar power plantis expected to generate nearly 60 million kWh of electricity this year andreduce carbon dioxide emission by over 20,500 tonnes each year.

Chairman of the district People’s Committee Trinh Duc Hungsaid those projects are providing power for Phong Dien industrial park on asite of 700ha.

Local authorities are ready to work with the solar powerplants to ensure safety during power generation and oversee the treatment ofhazardous wastes, towards a green and clean power industry, he said.

According to the VietnamMeteorological Hydrological  Administration, there are more than 1,800 sunshinehours in Thua Thien-Hue each year, alongside relatively high solar  radiation of 4.33 kWh persquare metre each day. Withgood natural conditions from April to October, the province is qualified forefficient use of solar panels.

The provinceis also home to over 120km of coastline and a number of desert areas with flatterraces, which also aid the building of solar power plants.-VNA

Vietnam ramps up plastic waste recycling, re𒁃use, treatmဣent efforts

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Other localities—such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City—have also effectively implemented waste-sorting initiatives at source, along with models for plastic-free markets and urban areas.
