Hanoi (VNA) – National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan returnedto Hanoi on the morning of April 15, concluding her official visits to Sweden,Hungary and the Czech Republic.
Onthis occasion, head of the NA Committee for External Relations Nguyen Van Giautalked with the media about the outcomes of the visits, stating that this wasthe first Europe tour made by the top legislator with the aim to further deepenVietnam’s relations with its traditional partners.
Ineach country, Chairwoman Ngan and the Vietnamese delegation discussed variousissues of mutual concern with its leaders and officials.
Accordingto Giau, during their talks, both Vietnamese and Swedish top legislators agreedthat the two countries have yet to fully tap economic potential.
Speakerof the Swedish parliament Urban Ahlin affirmed that he will work to urge theEuropean Union to early ratify the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) soas to open up new cooperation opportunities in the economic field for allrelated parties.
Giaunoted that the highlight of Ngan’s official visit to Hungary was a symposium onlaw perfection during the international integration, which was held for thefirst time by the two parliaments following their cooperation agreement signedin 2008.
Atthe meetings, Hungarian leaders informed the Vietnamese top lawmaker that theyhave selected Vietnam as a beneficiary of a framework agreement on a 440million EUR credit.
Giaualso told reporters that during the meetings between Ngan and Czech leaders,they shared that their country had set forth a strategy towards its traditionalfriends, with Vietnam being one of the 12 priority nations.
TheCzech side proposed the opening of a direct air route linking Hanoi to Prague,he said, adding that he will work with the Ministry of Transport on this issue.
Afterthe visits, the legislative body needs to map out plans to supervise theimplementation of cooperation agreements signed during the visits, he stated.
Vietnammust ensure its prestige and maintain political trust of these countries inorder to boost mutually-beneficial collaboration and development, he added.
