Thanh Hoa (VNA) – National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Nganspoke highly of the active role and contributions of the Catholic community tothe national building and development cause while visiting the Thanh Hoadiocese on the occasion of the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Nganinformed Catholic dignitaries and followers in the central province of thecountry’s socio-economic achievements, notably the success of the APEC EconomicLeaders’ Week in Da Nang city.

Theseachievements were the results of joint efforts of the ministries and sectors aswell as the contributions of all people, including the Catholic community, shestressed.

Quotingthe Holy Father’s saying “to be a good Christian is to be a good citizen”, thetop legislator expressed her hope that Thanh Hoa’s Catholic dignitaries andfollowers will continue promoting the patriotic tradition and contribute moreto the construction and development of the nation in general and the localityin particular.

NguyenChi Linh, President of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Vietnam and Archbishopof the Thanh Hoa Diocese, emphasised that over the past years, the State andNational Assembly have exerted great efforts to improve the country’s policiesto better meet religions’ aspirations.

Onthis occasion, NA Chairwoman Ngan extended her Christmas and New Year greetingsto Catholic dignitaries and followers.
