Lam QuangThanh, chief-de-mission and deputy head of the National SportsAdministration, said the Da Nang-born swimmer was chosen for hisachievements at the 27th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games last year and theSoutheast Asian Age Group Swimming Championships in June.

His1.82m height and good form likewise reinforced the decision, Thanhadded. Phuoc was also chosen to carry the national colours at the 27thSoutheast Asian Games.

As planned, the event's organising boardwill hold Vietnam's flag-raising ceremony at the Asiad athletes' villageon September 18.

The 199-member-Vietnamese contingent will compete in 21 of 31 sports events in Incheon from September 19 to October 4.

All matches will be broadcast live on SCTV (Saigontourist Cable Television Limited Company) channels.-VNA
